The invention relates to mobile communication appliances for determining distances from other mobile communication appliances, mobile terminals or base stations. The invention especially relates to a mobile communication appliance which uses duplex transmission in wireless short-range networks with clocks or timers of relatively low precision, in order to determine rapidly and precisely the distances from and between the other mobile communication appliances, and to determine its own respective position and the positions of the other mobile communication appliances by means of trilateration.
