The increasing importance of programmability for control and data planes of modern so-called softwarized communication networks together with the operators’ requirements to support open source software, demand for a new framework to model and evaluate the dependability of the software modules. Programmability in softwarized networks such as SDN controller or P4 switches, posing stringent requirements on the availability and continuity of the software processes. Moreover, the increasing use of open source software with a huge number of contributors makes it extremely difficult to control and assess the quality of the code. This talk gives an overview of the framework to evaluate the software availability and how this availability can be included in system dependability studies such as data centers.
