Abstract:
Introduction Heritable changes in cytosine methylation can arise stochastically in plant genomes independently of DNA sequence alterations. These so-called \textquoteleftspontaneous epimutations\textquoteright appear to be a byproduct of imperfect DNA methylation maintenance during mitotic or meitotic cell divisions.
