The data originates from a calf trial conducted at the TUM research facility Veitshof with neonatal brown swiss calves. Twenty animals were housed in calf pens for their first week of life. The calves were fed twice daily an unlimited amount of feed. For the first six feedings, all twenty animals received their dams colostrum and subsequently transition milk. At the seventh feeding ten calves were abruptly transitioned to milk replacer feeding for the following eight feeding events. The other ten calves continued to receive their dams milk. Feed consumption and urine excretion were documented and samples were analysed.
