The lateral rail track superstructure stiffness determines the distribution of the lateral wheel loads by the rail and lateral loads acting on the rail supporting structure and its components. To perform the investigations focused on the influence of the lateral rail track superstructure stiffness on the vehicle-track dynamics and the corresponding interactions, this study developed a numerical modelling and simulation chain using FEM-MBS co-simultion with verification of laboratory tests and field measurements in a wide range of applications.
