This thesis contains theoretical and experimental investigations in order to optimize the construction of continuously reinforced concrete pavements. The applied methodology includes small-scale laboratory tests in order to characterize the bonding behavior and two large-scale experiments to do a detailed analysis of fracture patterns and stresses in response to thermal, hygric and dynamic loads. Further, the study includes numerical analyses of load bearing and deformation behavior. Additionally, this study includes the evaluation of evaluates empirical and theoretical findings from the literature and practical experiences.
