As a result, the following major conclusions may be drawn from these potential applications of GNSS:
- Environmentally sound soil cultivation is in need of a reliable positioning and navigation system. Like no other system, GNSS offer the best prerequisites for this.
- A high degree of precision, however, is indispensable for this task. Thus, in agriculture the use of differential systems are mandatory.
- Presently available precision figures of ± 1 m are fine for current uses. They will, however, not suffice for tomorrow's automatic vehicle control.
- A considerable need for the use of GNSS in agriculture may be seen in the administrative area. It can only be implemented, however, if the information thus obtained is legally binding.
