In the work on hand a development system realizing a customized design process for serial kinematic chains is presented. Using the system, the target environment’s basic conditions can already be considered during the synthesis process. Furthermore, it allows for a prompt illustration of the designed kinematics by use of modular prototypes. For this purpose a construction kit containing parameterized kinematic elements as well as their properties is used. The prototypes’ fabrication using rapid prototyping techniques and their actuation render the possibility of functional tests at an early stage. The work shows the setup and functionality of the development system, the definition of the construction kit and selected system elements.
