The Neckar Valley Bridge, as part of the bypass for the city Horb am Neckar, is a key component of the larger traffic project aimed at improving the connection of the region Freudenstadt to the A 81 motorway. In addition to enhancing the traffic situation, the bypass will also significantly relieve traffic in the centre of Horb in the future. The Neckar Valley Bridge in Horb is a six-span extradosed bridge with a total length of approximately 670 meters, and it carries the new federal road B 32 over the Neckar Valley at a height of around 70 meters. The conditions in the Neckar Valley (crossing the Neckar River, the L 370 road and the DB railway lines 4860 and 4600), as well as the significant height above ground, led to the choice of two large spans in the middle of the bridge, each measuring 157.5 meters.
