The occurrence of maldistribution of the liquid in a packed column is a major challenge for its design. Therefore, this maldistribution is investigated experimentally and simulatively. Experiments are carried out using the system water/air in countercurrent flow employing the temperature method. For the calculations of the heat and mass transfer, the TUM-WelChem cell model is used as the simulation basis for the liquid distribution. To check the modeling, simulation results are compared to the real experimental data.
