A six-row sugar beet harvester of a machine cooperative was equipped with DGPS satellite positioning and sensors for machine status, yield measurement and data acquisition. The analysis of automatically collected data made a complete detailed work study possible. The direct affects of field length and field size could be ascertained. Automated data acquisition using DGPS positioning is a first step toward a necessary logistics for fleet management for sugar beet growing, harvesting and processing.
