For analyzing methods for improving the energy efficiency of chassis systems it is important to know the naturalistic driver’s behavior for its influence on many energy losses. It is possible to record the usage of cars on different roads. To use this data for investigations it is necessary to post process this data.
This paper shows a method for generating driving cycles including longitudinal and lateral dynamics, which is not neglect able for chassis based energy losses, of a database. The method in contrast to literature is vehicle independent by using yaw rate and
velocity.
Driving cycles are generated using the stochastic method of Markov Chains and are evaluated regarding their representativity of the database using a quality criteria. It is composed of different values describing longitudinal and lateral dynamics. The validity is shown by simulations of an enhanced two track model.
