Abstract:
Approximate Computing leverages the inherent error resiliency of applications by trading off quality for resource benefits. This dissertation presents a framework which enables a combined integration and optimal parameterization of multiple approximations into FPGA-based image processing systems. Based on a library of flexibly scalable approximate compontens, it employs appropriate models to estimate the application-level quality-resource trade-off and integrates a suitable optimization strategy. Case studies demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed approach.
