A new approach is established in the body of this work by means of determining the load torque of a “Piezoringmotor”, by processing the phase relations of the electrical signals of the actuators. A further aspect is the accurate and energy-efficient control of the motor's piezoelectric actuators. An amplifier that recovers up to 50% of the charge stored in the capacitive actuators during discharge without the use of inductors as energy storing elements is accordingly presented. The proposed building blocks for driving the “Piezoringmotor” and employing torque measurement are then verified by way of experiment.
