This paper describes the aspect of increasing driving efficiency with electric vehi-cles by optimizing driving behavior. A field study with MINI E electric vehicles was set up to investigate the saving potential of efficient driving strategies. In this study 27 experienced MINI E users were driving a 32 km reference route, once according to their normal driving behavior and a second time with the instruction to drive as efficiently as possible. Analysis of the driving dynamics data showed that participants generally applied valid strategies to significantly reduce energy consumption. Nevertheless, specific traffic situations which require assistance for optimal efficient driving could be identified.
