Microscopic Traffic Simulation Based Evaluation of Highly Automated Driving on Highways

Traffic based evaluations of driver assistance systems have been performed in many research works. Highly automated driving is realized by a combination of lateral and longitudinal advanced driving assistance systems. Notably no attempt has been performed to evaluate this combination. This work introduces a novel approach to evaluate the impacts of highly automated driving in a microscopic traffic simulation environment.
