Kurzfassung:
In this thesis, covalently bonded nanostructures are constructed bottom-up on well-defined interfaces. Through on-surface synthesis, functional molecules, such as porphines, are successfully fused to graphene edges and graphene nanoribbons on Ag(111) with atomic precision. Non-contact atomic force microscopy is exploited to unambiguously determine the structures at the interfaces. This novel approach towards functionalization of nano-graphene opens up a new pathway for applications in nanoelectronics.
