This study analyzed plasma Hsp70 levels and the immunophenotype of peripheral blood lymphocytes in lung cancer and COPD patients. Lung cancer patients showed significanlty elevated Hsp70 levels, increased CD8+ T cells and CD4+ Tregs, and reduced CD4+ T cells. The data suggest that Hsp70 may serve as a useful biomarker for lung cancer, as it is able to distinguish between lung cancer and COPD patients. Also, immunotherapies targeting CD4+ Treg-mediated immunosuppression or aiming to enhance CD8+ T cell cytotoxicity or NK cells response may prove to be powerful therapeutic approaches in the future.
