For automated production systems, methods for identifying and managing Technical Debt (TD) are insufficient. This thesis addresses selected aspects of this challenge, such as an improvement of TD classification, a supplement of graphical notations to model certain aspects of TD identified from case studies, and a proposal for a risk assessment method for TD in control code documentation. The improved granularity of TD classification and proposed model- and risk-based approaches assist the identification, representation, and prioritisation of TD.
