Networked dynamical systems have become a prevalent paradigm in emerging fields such as massive scale IoT. Often these systems have a nonlinear consensus problem at its core; yet a concept to map results from consensus theory to diverse applications is lacking. Here a framework for the analysis and design of nonlinear consensus systems is proposed which merges general convergence results with passivity theory. Further, a novel nonlinear circuit formulation for chemical reaction networks is derived and the connection between passivity of RC circuits and consensus is studied.
