The main objective of this thesis was investigating the preparation of supported nickel catalysts. Two different synthesis methods were used: First, classical wet impregnation synthesis routes like ion exchange and in-situ-impregnation, and second, the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) as a dry impregnation method. The main issue was the CVD-synthesis. The catalysts properties like texture, structure, and the nature, size and distribution of the metal particles were analysed. In addition to the characterizations of the prepared catalysts, they are tested for their catalytic activity. The target of this thesis is the direct conversion of ethene to propene. All catalysts showed activities at the ethene dimerisation, the butene isomerisation and the metathesis of 2-butene and ethene to propene.
