Immonustimulatory CpG-oligodesoxynucleotids have effects on innate and adaptive immunity. This work examined their influence on hematopoiesis in the mouse model. Shortly after injection, mature granulocytes emigrated from the bone marrow. In the injection site, an influx of immature dendritic cells could be found.The bone marrow reacted by an increased production capacity for dendritic cells, as well as accelerated granulocyte maturation, as seen in a chemotherapy model. This work shows a potential use of CpG ODN in cancer chemotherapy, accelerating the regeneration of granulopoiesis.
