An extended calculation of load-dependent losses of spur gears is presented and rated via comprehensive experimental investigations of test-gears. Based on precise analyses of load-dependent bearing losses, the mean coefficient of gear friction is derived and evaluated from the measured data. The driving direction and change of contact ratio under load are further influences on the load-dependent gear losses, which are specifically analysed and thus considered in the extended calculation method.
