In the present thesis, the influence of three antibiotics (cefotiam, ceftriaxone, linezolid), a COX-2-inhibitor (parecoxib), and a bisphosphonate (ibandronate) on
in vitro cultivated human primary osteoblasts was examined. Based on numerous test methods using different medication dosages and different application times, the quantitative and qualitative evaluation of proliferation, cell activity, apoptosis, and osteogenic differentiation has been performed. Consequently conclusions can be drawn, concerning the effect of the mentioned pharmaceuticals on the bone metabolism. This might be of importance for the clinical use of those pharmaceuticals regarding the active substance, dosage, and duration of the medication.
