Thema der Dissertation ist der Einfluss des Herkunftslandes der Mütter auf den somatischen Entwicklungsstand ihrer Neugeborenen. 1.815.318 Einlingsgeburten aus den Jahren 1995-1997 in Deutschland wurden mittels des perinatologischen Basis-Erhebungsbogens erfasst und statistisch ausgewertet. 16,7% der Mütter waren nicht-deutscher Herkunft. Die höchsten Geburtsgewichte hatten Neugeborene von Müttern aus Osteuropa. Erwartungsgemäß hatten die Neugeborenen von Müttern aus dem asiatischen Raum die niedrigsten Gewichte. Es konnte gezeigt werden, dass durch die Berücksichtigung von Körpergewicht und Körperhöhe der Mutter die somatische Klassifikation der Neugeborenen verbessert werden kann.     «

Topic of this thesis is the influence of the mothers' ethnicity, determined by the country of origin, on the somatic development of their babies. 1.815.318 single births from the years 1995-1997 were subject of investigation. The mother's country of origin was established according to the statement on the German birth certificate. 16,7% of all mothers turned out to be of non-German origin. The highest birth weights were found with the babies of east-German mothers, whereas the Asian babies accounted for the lowest birth weights. With the use of a correction method, only based upon the mother's body weight and length, the classification of babies in the national German growth curve could be improved.     «
