Data of the years 2000-2002 of 338 patients were collected, statistically evaluated and analyzed to verify the short- and long-term efficiency of in-patient psychological therapy exercised at the department for psychosomatic medicine of the Klinikum Harlaching (Munich) in patients with various psychosomatic disease patterns. Data collection was made pre- and post-therapeutically, as well as after a catamnastic interval of 3-5 years. Various factors of influence were examined for their relevance. A significant efficiency and stability during the catamnastic interval was verified for all diagnostic groups within the symptomatic scope as well as at a interpersonal level, even though with varying severity. Major factors of influence for the success of the therapy were sex, support by relatives, as well as the existence of a long-term relationship.
