Die alloplastische Epikeratophakie ist ein neuer Ansatz in der refraktiven Chirurgie. Sie verfolgt das Ziel, Fehlsichtigkeiten durch Implantation synthetischer Lentikel unter die Hornhautoberfläche zu beseitigen. Das Pocket-Delaminator-System (PDS) ist ein neu entwickeltes Hornhautmesser, mit dem zur Aufnahme eines solchen Onlay-Lentikels eine subepitheliale Tasche erzeugt werden soll. In dieser Arbeit sollte das Schneideverhalten des PDS im präklinischen Modell an porkinen und humanen Kadaveraugen untersucht werden. Anhand der histologischen Ergebnisse konnte gezeigt werden, dass der lamellierende Keratomschnitt wunschgemäß subepithelial beziehungsweise epistromal in der Hornhaut verläuft, wodurch das PDS grundsätzlich für seinen Bestimmungszweck geeignet erscheint.      «

Alloplastic epikeratophakia is a new approach in refractive surgery. It is targeted on correcting ametropia by refractive lenticules, which are implanted beneath the corneal surface. The Pocket Delaminator System (PDS), a newly developed corneal cutting device, is supposed to form a subepithilial pocket between the corneal epithilium and Bowman’s layer in order to fix and to accommodate such onlay lenticules. In this dissertation the cutting properties of the PDS keratome were preclinically tested on porcine and human cadaver eyes and histologically evaluated. Corresponding to the desired cutting depth, the PDS produced regular epistromal keratome cuts with complete delamination of the epithilium. It therefore meets important requirements for its intended use.      «
