To evaluate the effect of postmenopausal hormone replacement therapy on the age of primary affection with colon cancer of female patients with Hereditary Nonpolyposis Colorectal Cancer Syndrom (HNPCC), a pilot project with the patient population of the German multi-center study „Familial Colon Cancer“ („Familiärer Darmkrebs“) registered at the study center of the Technical University Munich (Studienzentrum der Technischen Universität München) has been conducted in preparation for an enlarged study. In the pilot project (n = 13) no advantages of hormone therapy could be shown. Women with hormone therapy fell ill (in average and median) even earlier than female patients without hormone therapy. Risk factors (such as sports, anamnesis of reproduction, BMI, nutrition and medical conditions) seem to have no impact on the results of the group of patients at hand. Furthermore, the thesis elaborately describes and discusses the influence of hormone therapy on HNPCC-typical forms of cancer. In addition, amendments of the concept and design of the study have been developed, hence significant results of an enlarged study may be expected.
