In this work, several functional, tailored lipopolymers based on poly(2-oxazoline)s were synthesized for the construction of artificial polymer tethered membranes. The applied lipids were of both, synthetic and natural origin. A new method for the asymmetric derivatization of lipids with two hydroxyl-functionalities was developed. This method results in the preparation of telechelic lipopolymers, bearing proximal hydroxyl functions. Futhermore, lipopolymers with orthogonal amino endroups were synthesized. Finally, thermosensitive poly(2-oxazoline)-based lipopolymers were synthesized, which show a cloud point in a broad range between 28.5 – 63 °C. These new lipopolymers will allow the construction of next-generation biomimetic membrane constructs for the quantitative study of membrane associated processes.
