Contrast-induced nephropathy is one essential reason of aquired renal failure. The possibility of medicamentous protection is not clear yet. Comparative studies to the prophylactic effect of the selective A1-Antagonist KW-3902 and Acetylcystein do not exist at the moment. This animal model analyses the effect of these agents to the development of contrast-induced nephropathy. The renal injury was not effected significantly by the prophylaxis eight hours after contrast media application, but the animal survival was significant longer by KW-3902 treated animals. In order to this, KW-3902 could improve the regeneration of the damaged kidney significantly.
