Design situations are manifold and characterized by a high amount of influencing factors. Within the field of design methodology there exists a large body of procedural models and design methods. Their application in the course of concrete design situations however is often difficult. Challenges result e. g. from lacks in the support of a targeted access to adequate procedures and methods as well as lacks in the promotion of a flexible, situational application of these tools in the development process. This thesis provides an integrated view on the three areas design situation, procedural support and method deployment. A generic description model was developed that defines essential parameters within these areas as well as their linkage. In addition, an information set was created for the specific field of conceptual design of technical products. An application methodology describes the situational support of operative design processes.
