As part of an experiment, a newly developed ski-boot, softer in terms of dorsal flexion, was compared with a normal hard ski-boot. The criterion for comparison was the intermuscular coordination of the skier when passing over the ground waves which typically occur in the special discipline of mogul skiing. For n=21 qualified skiers, the electromyograms were derived from 7 representative muscles for this purpose, and their signals were evaluated specifically at the point in time of the most extreme positions of the ankle joint. When the soft boot was worn in contrast to the hard boot, the skiers activated all muscles more strongly around the extreme positions of the ankle joint.
