In this study the value of vestibular-evoked myogenic potentials in the diagnosis of neurootological symptoms has been examined. For this purpose 1075 VEMP-examinations, carried out between 2001 and 2004 at the ENT-section of the clinic "Rechts der Isar" has been examined retrospectively. With the results in combination with the international literature the special importance of the VEMP-s could be figured out for the menières syndrom, the vestibular neuritis, for cerebellopontine angle tumors and the BPPV. In addition the importance of the method also could be pointed out for the neurootological assessments and the final judgement in cases of "unclear" vertigo.
