This thesis illuminates the interactions of keratinocytes and T cells during allergic eczemtous reactions. A clinical and immunological comparison of the Atopy patch test reactions to native pollen grains and the nickel patch test showed, despite some marked differences, a general similarity of both immune reactions that involved an influx of T cells into dermis and epidermis. By establishing an autologous and specific in vitro modell of eczema a relevance beyond effector functions of T cells could be revealed: keratinocytes actively modulate the T cell mediated immune response.
