In dieser Arbeit wird analysiert, wie der Begriff der Mäßigung über die Epochen hinweg bis heute verstanden wird und welche Institutionen Einfluss haben auf die Verständnisweise der jeweiligen Gesellschaft. Es zeigt sich, dass der Fokus im öffentlichen Diskurs in Deutschland heute auf dem „weniger-ist-besser“-Paradigma liegt. Um mehr Vielfalt zu erzielen bei den Lösungsansätzen für die Herausforderungen unserer Tage, wird in dieser Arbeit für eine Re-Dynamisierung hin zu einem „size-is-contextual“ plädiert.     «

This is an analysis of how the concept of moderation is understood from Early Civilizations to the present day. Within that, those institutions are analyzed, that have an influence on the understanding of the respective society. It becomes apparent that the public discourse in Germany for the most part focuses on the “less-is-better” paradigm nowadays. Therefore, in order to have more solution pluralism for today´s challenges, this work advocates for a re-dynamization towards a "size-is-contextual" paradigm.     «
