Abstract:

This study evaluated the clinical and radiologic results of 48 patients using a stemless shoulder prosthesis. In all measured data were no statistical significant difference between the two main diagnosis groups: primary and post-traumatic osteoarthritis. The same applies to the comparison of hemi- and total arthroplasty. Furthermore there were no negative radiological phenomenons which point to a failure of the stemless implant. Additionally this study shows that the exact reconstruction of the glenohumeral offset is an important prognostic factor for the clinical outcome of patients with a primary osteoarthritis using an anatomical shoulder prosthesis.
