Abstract:
This dissertation presents three novel aspects of vine copulas. The first part develops model distances based on the Kullback-Leibler distance that can be used for vine copulas even in high dimensions. The second part provides an explicit formula for the copula density of the componentwise block maxima for multivariate distributions and applies this result to vine copulas. The third part presents a flexible D-vine copula based model for unbalanced longitudinal data and its connection to linear mixed models.
