The aim of this thesis is the development and application of normal forms in quantum information theory, especially for squeezing. New normal forms are developed for channels with squeezed environment and Sinkhorn's normal form is generalised to unitary channels. Known symplectic normal forms are applied to give the first operational measure for the preparation of multi-mode squeezed states. Computing this measure also relies on a stability proof of Williamson's normal form contained in this thesis.
