Abstract:: In this thesis, interactions between bile acids and plant compounds were investigated with focus on the constituents of lupin seeds. Mechanistic principles of interactions were related to the chemical and micellar properties of the bile acids. Structure-function relationships were revealed by systematic isolation and fractionation studies. The thesis provides valuable insights into the impact of plant compounds on bile acid metabolism as a potential contribution to disease prevention.
Translated abstract:: In dieser Arbeit wurden Wechselwirkungen zwischen Gallensäuren und Pflanzenstoffen mit Fokus auf Lupinensamen untersucht. Interaktionsmechanismen wurden mit den chemischen und mizellaren Eigenschaften der Gallensäuren in Verbindung gebracht. Struktur-Funktionsbeziehungen wurden durch gezielte Isolations- und Fraktionierungsstudien aufgeklärt. Diese Arbeit liefert Einblicke in die Beeinflussung des Gallensäurestoffwechsels durch Pflanzenstoffe als potentieller Beitrag zur Krankheitsprävention.
