Abstract:
A consistent methodology for the modular implementation of finite isogeometric elements based on continuum mechanics is developed. Techniques from algorithmic differentiation (AD) are adapted for efficient application within isogeometric analysis (IGA). The implementation of complex mechanical elements and coupling constraints associated with free-form geometries is automated and simplified. By using the adjoint method the computational effort and memory consumption of the numerical analysis is reduced. This enables the implementation of interactive tools for structural analysis and form-finding in CAD environments.
