In this dissertation, the reactivity of various alkoxy-substituted metallocene complexes was investigated. Methoxy-substituted meso metallocenes could be isomerized to their racemic analogs upon reaction with various aluminum alkyls and produced isotactic polypropylene after activation with suitable co-catalysts. Unsubstituted racemic hafnocenes in isomeric mixtures could be selectively activated. In addition, two new dialkoxy-bridged hafnocenes were synthesized that could selectively convert ethylene to methyl-branched polyethylene.
