In the present work, two instruments for electron stimulated desorption measurements are described. Stimulated hydrogen desorption from diamond surfaces following an electron bombardment of 0.5 - 300 eV incident energy has been examined. Results are discussed with regard to an application as a bright negative hydrogen source. In addition, the results show a significant influence of stimulated desorption on the growth of CVD diamond. Considering this effect, the influence of dopants on diamond gropwth can be understood.
