Goal of the Borexino-Experiment, which is currently under construction in the Gran Sasso underground laboratory (Italy), is the first direct detection of solar 7Be neutrinos via neutrino-electron-scattering in 300 t liquid scintillator. The measured rate together with the time variation will allow to distinguish between all presently possible neutrino oscillation solutions. In this work new methods for the position reconstruction of scintillation events and for the particle separation were developed. A new liquid scintillator has been developed for the use in Borexino. Its optical properties and its radiopurity have been determined in laboratory experiments as well as measurements with the prototype detector CTF, and new purification methods for liquid scintillator have been tested.
