In this cross sectional study (366 probands in the age of 18-82 years) we analysed different bone stability parameters by pQCT at the right radius: bone mass, cortical, trabecular, total bone density and the strength strain index SSI. On the one hand these parameters were correlated with maximal torque of the right forearm flexor muscles, isometrically measured; on the other hand they were correlated with age. We found strong relationships between SSI, bone mass and maximal torque (r=0,8), lower relationships between total and trabecular bone density and the maximal torque. The relationships with age were low. We conclude, that bone status is deeply influende by muscle force ad the forearm.
