The three-dimensional structure of 3,4-dihydroxy-2-butanone-4-phosphate synthase from M. jannaschii with its natural substrate ribulose-5-phosphate has been determined. By Kinetic characterisation of mutant proteins some amino acids located at the active site could be assigned to special functions in catalysis. The three-dimensional structure of GTP Cyclohydrolase I feedback regulatory protein from rat has been solved. Kinetical experiments with the GTP cyclohydrolase I/GTP cyclohydrolase I feedback regulatory protein complex shows that the concave side of the GTP cyclohydrolase I feedback regulatory protein binds to the GTP cyclohydrolase I.
