By the use of microwave heating, pyrazole derivatives were obtained within several minutes instead of hours. Since pyrazoles and their precursors provide strong inter- and intramolecular hydrogen bonds, they are interesting for supramolecular chemistry. Pyrazole derivatives were used as ligands for the Cu(I) catalysed controlled radical polymerisation. A relationship between their polymerisation activity and the substitution pattern of the synthesised 2-(3-pyrazolyl)pyridin-Cu(I) complexes was elaborated using spectroscopic and electrochemical data.
