Single-cell RNA-sequencing was used for precise transcriptomic profiling of the murine cardiac conduction system (CCS) for the first time. These findings facilitated the elucidation of the three-dimensional structure of conduction tissues and all of its components in whole hearts. Further, novel CCS-specific molecular markers were revealed and used as molecular targets, antibody-based imaging tools for intraoperative real-time visualization of conduction tissues were generated and preclinical validation was completed.
