This dissertation presents research on the intersection of gender and age with digital technology. Through analyses of qualitative interviews with older and younger women, I illustrate women’s perceptions of gendered technology stereotypes in the digital age. My research provides an enhanced understanding of (1) the impact of older women’s lifestyle on the incorporation of technological devices, (2) the (mis)conceptions of older women’s interest in and competence with technology, and (3) conflicting stereotypes about technology subjects and social media by younger women.
