Es erfolgte die Untersuchung aller Epistaxispatienten am Klinikum Rechts der Isar 2014 mit Fokus auf der Bedeutung oraler Antikoagulanzien. Gerinnungshemmende Medikation bestand deutlich häufiger als in der Gesamtbevölkerung und war mit einem höheren Durchschnittsalter und Rezidivrisiko bei insgesamt unkomplizierten Verläufen verbunden. Neue orale Antikoagulanzien waren noch seltener mit schweren Verläufen assoziiert als Phenprocoumon. Komplikationen zeigten sich v.a. bei nichtantikoagulierten Patienten mittleren Alters mit posteriorer Epistaxis.     «

All patients presenting with epistaxis at University Hospital rechts der Isar in 2014 were analyzed, with focus on the impact of oral anticoagulants. Compared to general population, oral anticoagulants were highly overrepresented in our cohort while beeing associated with higher median age and recurrent but mild bleeding. Patients taking new oral anticoagulants showed even less severe courses than those on Phenprocoumon. Severe bleeding was most often seen in non-anticoagulated, middle-aged patients with posterior bleeding location.     «
