All patients presenting with epistaxis at University Hospital rechts der Isar in 2014 were analyzed, with focus on the impact of oral anticoagulants. Compared to general population, oral anticoagulants were highly overrepresented in our cohort while beeing associated with higher median age and recurrent but mild bleeding. Patients taking new oral anticoagulants showed even less severe courses than those on Phenprocoumon. Severe bleeding was most often seen in non-anticoagulated, middle-aged patients with posterior bleeding location.
